The Northside Cup originated in our second season. Vinnie bagodonuts and Crazy Eddie purchased the cup before the Northwestern game. I walked up to the coin toss that week and proclaimed that this was the Northside Cup and the winner leaves with it. Needless to say the cup spent the next few months in Evanston.
The loss was a blessing in disguise since after winning it, Northwestern felt an attachment to the cup as well. I was proud last year, when I laid eyes on it for the first time in 8 years, it was still being passed between the teams.
